Laser Skin Resurfacing

Today, men and women of all ages are having laser resurfacing performed. It's easy; it's convenient, and more affordable than you might think. The ideal candidate is someone who would like to restore a smoother skin appearance.

Laser resurfacing is performed in our office, usually under local anesthesia. Sometimes, when using a laser on deeper imperfections, it is necessary to use some sedation for the patient's comfort. Depending upon the size of the area to be worked on, the procedure could take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour.

Following the procedure, the patient might experience mild swelling and discomfort. However, this can be controlled with cold compresses and medication prescribed by Dr. Best. It is recommended that following surgery the patient rest quietly at home for the next 24 hours.

No heavy lifting or workouts should be attempted for at least two weeks following surgery; however, most patients can return to daily actives in just a few days. It is also very important that a high number SPF sun block be used at all times. After the healing process, the skin is firmer, smoother, and has a renewed appearance.
