Hair Removal

The EpiLight™ hair removal system can offer long term hair removal with no use of tweezers, waxes, or needles. This avoids the pain of these older methods as well as the risk of infection which some needle treatments involve. The EpiLight™ disables the hair follicles with an intense pulse light source similar to a laser. Each pulse produces a high energy flash of light that passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigmented follicle bulb converting into heat and thereby disabling the follicle. Lightly pigmented, un-tanned skin absorbs little of the light energy and is not damaged by the treatment. Therefore dark hair on light skin is the easiest to treat, and most hair colors can be treated with the EpiLight™.

Areas most commonly treated include the face, underarms, bikini line, neck, legs and even the back. This treatment is associated with very minimal sensation. The flash feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. This is comfortable enough that no anesthesia is required for treatment.

At the time of treatment some hairs are eliminated immediately and others fall out in a few days to weeks. Follow-up treatments are usually scheduled four to six weeks after the initial treatment. It will usually take at least four treatments to achieve the best results. If eliminating unwanted hair sounds good, contact our office for more information on EpiLight™.
