Breast Enlargement (Breast Augmentation)

Breast Augmentation, better known as Breast Enlargement, is done to improve small, underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have deflated after childbirth. It is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia.

There are several techniques; our most-preferred method is performed through a small incision in the armpit. This allows for immediate access to the muscle beneath the breast tissue. Working through the incision, an implant is placed behind the muscle and inflated with saline. The incision is closed with dissolving stitches. This approach gives a nice result and prevents any scars or incisions on the breast. The small incisions under the arm fade and often have the appearance of a natural fold under the arm.

Immediately following surgery, the patient is placed in a firm dressing or surgical bra. Medication is prescribed to control discomfort. The breasts will appear swollen and sometimes bruised during the first weeks. In the first few days, activity is greatly restricted; however, within a few weeks, most patients are back to their normal routines. The best part is that now the patient can wear swimsuits and other clothes with more confidence.
