Nose Job (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty, or nose job, can reduce or increase
the size of the nose, change the tip or bridge, narrow the span
of the nostrils or change the angle between the nose and upper lip.
The procedure is performed from within the nose, which means that
most incisions are inside the nose. Because this procedure can vary
greatly from patient to patient the length of surgery can also vary.
The surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia.
After surgery the face may feel puffy with swelling and bruising
around the eyes. Most of the swelling and bruising will disappear
within two to three weeks. A splint is placed over the nose and
is removed within a week or two. Strenuous activity should be limited
for three weeks. Avoid contact sports or activities that can cause
injury to the nose for eight weeks. Most patients can return to
school or work with ten to fourteen days.
